Bollywood goes boring, Lakme Fashion Week – 2009

Bollywood celebs like Sushmita Sen, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Dia Mirza, Sameera Reddy and Lara Dutta walked down the ramp for various designers. But, things were a little disheartening  this year as the celebs went unimpressive and failed to make a statement. The celebs turned out in dull and boring outfits, a stunt not to be imitated.

John Abraham walked for the celebrated bollywood designer Rocky S, in a gray pin striped three piece suit. John looks a perfect gentleman in this gothic vintage wedding attire. The classic sharply cut suits in grey pin stipes and the rich luxurious fabric adds value to this avant garde men’s wear. But what is that metallic instinct doing down his collar???? My eyes are all stuck there!

Firstly, it’s great that the former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is back into action! THE CELEBRATION ENDS THERE! Firstly, the outfit is a regular chandni-chowk spotting, secondly it made Sushmita boring! Yet another bridal collection with heavy zardozi and crystal work with very ordinary aesthetics. The bridal outfit with golden lehenga, choli and dupatta was created by Vikram Phandis for Lakme Fshion Week Spring Summer 2010.

The former Miss Universe walked the ramp for Raakesh Agarvwal for his bridal wear collection. Bridal outfit with crystals, chain mail embroidery, gold, fabrics ranging from silk, tulle, satin, chiffon, jersey etc., all may sound very alluring like a perfect bridal wear but unfortunately just doesn’t look how it sounds with words!

Who could even think that even the ‘CLASSIC’ black and white could look this boring? The gigantic florals ain’t helping either.

Designer Neeta Lulla has fused the western and Indian ethnic ensembles and created this choli encrusted with crystal and the jersey dhoti skirt. The outfit is a blend of trousseau and couture wear. While Sameera Reddy looks sexy in this Neeta Lulla outfit, it’s the hairdo which is the let-down here.

Dia Mirza walked the ramp in a tulle layered mini for debutant Nihska Lulla. The designer showcased outfits in pretty frills, soft drapes and layered minis, mostly in chiffon, lace and net. The outfit brings out oodles of cuteness in Dia Mirza. Thumbs up (y)
